Box Canyon, Ouray Colorado
Nestled in the heart of Ouray, Colorado, Box Canyon Falls is where the raw power of nature meets the remnants of Colorado’s mining past. In this immersive video experience, we take you on a walk along the metal catwalk along the canyon, leading to the roaring waterfall itself — all while highlighting hidden pieces of history along the way.
What You’ll See in the Video:
We begin just before reaching the falls, walking along a catwalk suspended above the canyon floor. Early on, you'll spot old mining equipment still resting in the riverbed — a silent reminder of Ouray’s rich mining history. A nearby sign explains how the force of the waterfall is so powerful it could supply electricity to most of the town.
As we move deeper into the canyon, you’ll hear the waterfall before you see it. The sound is overwhelming in the best way — echoing off the stone walls and making it clear why this is such a memorable stop.
The falls soon come into view, thundering through a narrow gap in the rock, and we take time to explore the area from above and below. After descending a stairway attached to the canyon wall, we reach river level for a dramatic close-up of the crashing water and towering canyon walls.
